About This Spot

Montecoyote greets you with a quiet invitation—stepping inside feels like slipping into a familiar nook where time slows just enough to savor small pleasures. The warm embrace of dark wooden accents and thoughtfully curated music creates a comforting cocoon, a place both intimate and alive with subtle energy. Whether you’re settling in with a book, catching up with a friend, or simply taking a breath in the middle of your day, the atmosphere here encourages a gentle pause.

This espresso bar carves out its own rhythm in the heart of Obispado, offering more than just expertly crafted coffee. The menu reveals thoughtful layers of flavor and comfort—from the creamy richness of a flat white or the gentle spice of a dirty chai, to unexpected delights like an Earl Grey-inspired chocolate drink. Little touches, like a perfectly baked scone or the vibrant freshness of an acai bowl, invite you to linger and discover your own favorite moments. Montecoyote’s offerings are as welcoming as the friendly baristas who guide you through them, making each visit feel like a small discovery.

The space is humble yet carefully considered, where the coziness leads to easy conversations or quiet reflection, depending on the day’s needs. Though modest in size, the café’s vibe never feels cramped, instead fostering a sense of belonging and calm. It’s the kind of local spot where regulars and newcomers find a shared rhythm—an unhurried oasis in Monterrey’s bustling pace.

For anyone chasing that perfect balance between elevated coffee craft and relaxed neighborhood ease, Montecoyote stands out as a quietly special place—a reminder that great cafés are as much about the moments you spend as the drinks you enjoy.

A cozy café with a vast selection of specialty and unique drinks, along with friendly service. The dark wooden theme complements the overall atmosphere of this café beautifully. They offer a great selection of both classic and signature drinks. I decided to treat myself to a chai and a chocolate Earl Grey—something I had never heard of before. Being a fan of Earl Grey lattes, I was curious to see how this version would compare. The iced chai latte with oat milk was pleasant, cozy, and had just the right amount of sweetness, which I thoroughly enjoyed (8.5/10). As for the chocolate Earl Grey, I had no expectations, but it surprised me with how well the two distinct flavors meshed. The chocolate took center stage, while the Earl Grey remained understated yet present in a way that I found quite enjoyable (8/10). Pricing was about average, with both drinks costing $88, plus an additional $12 for oat milk and $10 for lactose-free milk (which I wasn’t expecting to be charged for). The café’s vibe was by far my favorite aspect. The seating was comfortable and spacious, the ambiance was calm and relaxing with gentle indie music, and overall, it was just a great place to spend time. The service was efficient and friendly throughout my visit, and Montecoyote has definitely become a spot I’ll return to for more of the cafe’s unique drinks.

We were looking for a coffee shop open on Sunday morning, and we lucked out with Montecoyote. Coffee was tasty! We also had a brownie, but I didn’t get a pic. Atmosphere is chill either for socializing or working. Bring cash to pay for parking in the parking garage.

The music, decor and atmosphere is very relaxing. It's a little small, so it can quickly feel tight, but overall it was a pleasant experience.
